The Brighton Bayside Men's Shed (Inc) provides an opportunity for men to get together in a social environment to help with personal and community projects.
Members come from all backgrounds and varying workshop skills and there is always another member available to give you a helping hand. Members work on their own projects and, if they wish, can also work on projects that the Shed undertakes within the local community.
The Brighton Men's Shed has been operational and open to men of all ages for five years. The Shed has recently moved to new premises provided by Bayside Council and is located in Dendy Street, Brighton. The new Shed was officially opened by the Mayor of Bayside, Cr Michael Heffernan on the 6th November 2019.
The Shed acknowledges the support of the Bayside Council, the North Brighton and Brighton Rotary Clubs, the Freemasons, the RACV and Bunnings. With this support, the Shed has established a modern workshop facility equipped with modern equipment. A special thanks to Bayside Men's Shed (Beaumaris) for their advice and assistance.
There are currently around 50 members as at Nov 2019, with new members very welcome (see Contact Us). There is a strong culture of camaraderie and mutual support amongst Members, and, ‘drop in’ visitors who want to see more, are welcome.
The Shed is organised by a volunteer Committee that meets on a regular basis. Orientation is given on the larger machinery. The Shed promotes safe working practices but reminds members that the onus is on the individual to look after their own safety and the safety of those around them.
The Brighton Men's shed is affiliated to both the Australian Men's Shed Association (AMSA) and the Victorian Men's Shed Association (VMSA).
